Job Description

Saint Paul's - Clearwater’s Independent School seeks a Director of Development responsible for developing, managing and promoting all aspects of the school’s annual fundraising efforts. Working closely with the Head of School and Board of Trustees, the Director of Development will oversee all development efforts, constituent/alumni relations and strategic leadership and management of the department and budget.

Preferred Experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of School and its leadership through active participation on the administrative team, serving as a cheerleader for the school and its mission and serving its families with the core values of professionalism, humility and gratitude.
  • Manage the development team consisting of a Development Coordinator, volunteers and committees.
  • Implement the Blue White Fund annual giving program, including but not limited to direct mail, matching gifts, monthly giving, pledges, and online giving. Work with the Head of School to develop strategies to achieve both annual and long-term goals.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding annual fundraising goals through direct solicitation of individuals.
  • Manage all development operations including gift processing, acknowledgments, campaign tracking, reporting and ensuring the integrity of the donor database.
  • Steward current donors and provide outstanding customer service, proposing renewals and upgrades for annual gifts as appropriate.
  • Plan, organize and implement 3-5 events per year, including the “Evening at the Pelican” spring gala, golf tournament, grandparents day, and other special events, including the management of event committees.
  • Partner with the Director of Communications & Marketing to produce all fundraising print and digital content.
  • Develop a plan to increase alumni involvement including alumni researching/profiling, communications and giving.
  • Serve as staff support for the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience working in nonprofit development; Independent school experience highly desirable, but not required
  • Experience in the development and implementation of an annual fundraising program with demonstrated achievement in exceeding established goals
  • Experience soliciting multi-year gifts a plus
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at computer and keyboard for moderate periods
  • Mobility sufficient to move about campus including climbing stairs
  • Sight and hearing adequate to perform the duties of the job, including communicating clearly
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds on an occasional basis

  • Strong verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong planning, collaboration, problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated results in managing in a highly-collaborative team
